A Stamp Collection Dedicated  to Endangered Animals

Hanoi-based graphic designer and illustrator Tùng Nâm has proof that ideas are worth hanging onto. While cleaning out his computer files recently, he stumbled upon the Endangered Species Stamp Collection, a project he made in college while applying for an internship at a local design agency called Printopia.

Digitally rendered in the blocky low-poly style popular in the 2010s, the project highlights 15 species facing extinction. “This was basically my qualification test,” Nâm told Colossal. Ten years later, he decided to touch up the illustrations and share the project anew
.

Vividly depicted in bright color palettes, the heavily patterned stamps depict animals like the brilliant, red-masked Vietnamese pheasant or the jewel-toned Nicobar pigeon. Each contains the creatures’ scientific name and the year they were originally named a species.

Much of Nâm’s work revolves around the natural world, and he’s currently in progress on 14 pieces for a series titled What if it snows in Hanoi? His beloved hometown is largely tropical, but “I find (snow) possible with my paintbrush and imagination,” he shares.

You can find the first part of that series on Behance, and follow along on Instagramfor updates. And enlargements of each stamp, here.

Happy October, ready or not!

Jacki, your eye-OP must be tomorrow or the day after tomorrow? You must already be excited to get full eyesight back. I'm thinking of you and wishing you all the best.
