2GN2S

A Wonky Samurai?

I wanted to send Irene a thank you, and in my scraps I found this cool Samurai, so worth a try, right?

Using a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Kraft card, I started.

Wow! A normal human would give up already? But I knew it would have to be my version, with perfection no where in sight.

With junk collage, I use scraps of anything, and I personally love it when text or anything extra shows up. I did use an ink brush for facial features, as I am not skilled at cutting tiny stuff!

I could have left his kimono solid, but I wanted to try to get the pattern effect. I used marker drawn squares on newsprint and used them on the  backside for texture.

You'll notice I didn't attempt the sword? It is way beyond my pay grade. This took about an hour, and I have something to post for "2GN2S" and a thank you card for Irene. Win- win!

Peregrine Falcon

Two hundred and forty miles per hour.
A velocity that would strip the moisture from a human eye in milliseconds.
But for the Peregrine Falcon, this is the speed of the hunt.
This is not a blink.
This is the nictitating membrane—a biological masterpiece of translucent tissue.
As the falcon enters its terminal stoop, this 'third eyelid' sweeps horizontally across the globe.
It acts as a high-speed goggle, clearing debris and lubricating the cornea without breaking visual contact.
While the world becomes a blur of wind and pressure, the falcon remains locked on its target with 20/20 clarity.
It is an engineering marvel that allows a living creature to become a ballistic missile.
Evolution does not aim for beauty.
It aims for the precision required to survive the impossible.

A specialminute video, Birdsong,  here.
(I don't know why, but this made me cry)

Just because ...

Downy Woodpecker

A male Downy Woodpecker snags a tasty grub from a cattail after hammering away at the husk. The Downy's small size allows them to perch on cattails which cannot support heavier woodpeckers.

Thursday's (No Words) Smiles ...

Hoping you feel all the good things in your day.
