Have you done something silly, just to be silly?
I believe it is a good thing to go outside of your comfort zone sometimes to do a dumb thing as long as it doesn't harm you, anybody else or property.
When I was at John Marshall High School ...

JMHS

I was invited to join others in a football game on the field, in the rain, on a Saturday.

I put my hair in braids and old clothes and showed up. It had rained and we all were coated as if dipped in mud. A funny things happens when you are that dirty, it sets you free to play. We laughed so much, I remember my side hurt. We went to VandeKamp's drive-in

Van de Kamps dritte in

afterwards looking other-worldly and not caring. When I finally got home and took a shower, the mud was caked in each fold of the braid. Great memories.

 Japan's 2024 Daydreaming Competition

Participants in "Tokyo Space-out Competition" were judged on how artfully they could do absolutely nothing for 90 minutes. Now an annual event, in which contestants dress in outfits reflecting their profession or some other aspect of their lifestyle, take a seat, and space out for 90 minutes. Like figure skating, competitive spacing out is judged on both technical and artistic merits. Use of props is allowed, with one especially dedicated spacer-out bringing an ice cream bar which she held in her hand as it melted while still retaining the aura of motionless mental vacancy that judges look for. This year’s competition drew 528 applicants from which a total of 90 competitors, 60 were selected to compete.

the eventual winners

Despite the laid-back vibe, the tournament organizers make it very clear that spacing out is distinct from sleeping. The only iron-clad rules of the Space-out tournament is that talking or sleeping is grounds for disqualification, with a soccer-like system of yellow and red cards and violators expelled from the competition.  A 4+ minute video, here.

Fun?

Jacki, I can imagine how much fun you had playing in the rain. Isn't it a privilege of young girls to just laugh - no reason needed?
I also loved the bird photo and your smiles. Your art of the day is always admired, Jacki!
Happy weekend!
