Day 2533: Sometime less is more. (more or less)

This postcard falls in the less category.
I did the umber wash first, then the ink drawing.
The drawing didn't fit the background, but I liked it.
A dab of orange for cheeks and shadow ... done.
I do have a thing about cheeks. 
Maybe because the nuns said rouge was evil.

Fukizume Ayame by Akio Yamamoto

 

 

 

 

 

 This iris was painted by Akio Yamamoto in the late 1800's.

Akio was the son of Boyo Yamamoto, well known herbologist

in Kyoto who devoted his life to the study of plants.

To assist hs work, Akio became an artist.

 








Happy 91st Anniversary!




Uncle Owen and Aunt Pauline were married July 3, 1928 
 91 years ago today!!!




Both were master teachers, and
were so proud of their 3 outstanding daughters, 
7 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, 
brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.


Happy 91st Anniversary up in heaven!

We love and miss you.

I imagine you were thinking woman when you created this piece. I first thought of Benjamin Franklin. I love the red "rectangles" under the eyes. Just great! :-)
