I call and sang to two March 9th birthday people today. My great, long-time friend, Denise. And to Brandon, former student and like a son. I only do that to family and family-like people to let them know I am celebrating their day. As you might guess. it isn't pretty but it is thoughtful and sometimes that might be just as good. One time, I didn't get my call done in the morning of GH#1's birthday and he called his Mom, saying Grandma hasn't called yet? I didn't forget, I was just late.
