I Remember ...
Nineteen years ago today, 9-24-2006, as I write I married a terrific young couple. It wasn't my idea. I said no but it happened, and that's another story. Brandon was my student since age 7. He and his Dad, Craig both started Karate at the same time, in different classes. Both later earned black belt ranking.
To celebrate their marriage today, I worked on some photos today and so with their okay, I decided to double-dip and share. Everybody loves a wedding, right? Brandon and Courtney (B&C) were then in their late twenties and took charge to do their wedding as they wanted, in every way. They picked and reserved Inspiration Point, in Corona Del Mar/Newport Beach, a small grassy knoll, overlooking Newport Harbor, Catalina and the Pacific. A small intimate wedding, they invited only their immediate family and friends. In respect to Japanese heritage, the men of the family all held a tall bamboo pillar to represent the role of support for the family. The women held a parasol representing their embrace of protection. It was really so lovely.

Carrol Wolf say: lovely post. The wedding photos are so touching. And the person who married them must be a movie star! I loved the idea of the wing houses. Humans can do positive and great thingsl
Thanks Carrol Wolfe, you are so kind. Yes, I think it must have been the most touching and intimate wedding ever, and the fact that they took the responsibility to do it was unique, I think. Yes, humans can do great things.
These wedding pictures are wonderful, Jacki! I love to see you in this responsible position. What a good choice!
Happy weekend!
Thanks so much, Elenor. I have officiated three wedding, all former students at the request, and I am now retired in that roll as well. But, it was an honor to be asked and I gave it my best effort. Have a great weekend.
