I found a wonderful, inspiring story (yet, too lengthy for this blog,) by Rebecca Mead in issue of The New Yorker 100, here.

Throwback Thursday: Many of us still miss Demura Sensei's former honbu dojo, 1429 N.Bristol, Santa Ana, CA. The City of Santa Ana planned to widen Bristol Street and took the property by eminent domain, the right of a government or its agent to expropriate private property for public use, with payment of compensation. Ironically, Bristol was not widened as originally said. The dojo property is now a extra parking lot for the busy McDonald's next door, which is still there and operating.

An extra parking lot ... how sad.
