My desk gets really cluttered when I do collage.

It takes a lot to do a little?

A while back, friend and artist, Gail Wynn mentioned on Facebook, about some of my recent minimal collages. "Jackie, I'm really liking the latest collages, simple, bold, and colorful, you get some great junk mail!"

I responded, "Thanks! Some of the papers are painted by me and torn up for collage, like the yellow. It's a great way to use up paint, and layers of it. Gail responded, "Thanks for the great

tip Jackie".

And so, I thought I might show some of the painted papers, and a box of junk mail to illustrate.

Most of these torn pieces are of leftover heavy watercolor paper which take color so well. But, I especially like color on random printed sheets like the one in the front center.

My junk mail consists of magazine, print, security envelopes  patterns,  just about anything.

"Oreo had just passed away the night before. I took Mungo out after work for a hike to enjoy the beautiful Autumn day. My mind was consumed with grief and overwhelmed with the pain of Oreo's passing. I stopped to sit, take in the peace and collect myself and thoughts.
As we sat there listening to the movement of the breeze and noise of the birds, I noticed Mungo looking up. He has never done this and he's never done it since, but at that moment, he was looking up for a good five minutes. I snapped this picture because at that moment, I do believe his brother was with us, comforting us and letting his brother know he was ok and still near.......

Just because ...

Cassowary

The cassowary's eggs are green. The green color of the eggs is due to biliverdin, a pigment found in the bile of cassowaries. They are dark green in color and measure between 9 and 14 centimeters. They are enormous. Then color of the cassowary eggs serve to camouflage them in the vegetation of the tropical forests and protect them from predators.

Jacki, thanks for showing your cluttered desk - so not only my desk looks this way?
It's great to see your small pieces of collage paper, especially the painted ones. That's such an inspiration to start collaging again.

Oh, good Elenor! I'd love to have you doing collage again. I know life goes better when I spend some time doing collage. Have fun and be well.
