I am missing my Dad today as I post Father's Day wishes for the blog readers. I wish you all a special appreciation for you Dad (or Dad figure). I think about my Dad growing up during the depression. I know he had a lot of unspoken bruises from that time, but he did the best he could. One of my Grandhunk's asked what school he went to, I explained that school was not an option. He could drive, so he became a Greyhound bus driver with many safety awards. He was a diver and was chosen for the Olympic Diving Team, but was eliminated when he was hospitalized with tuberculosis, another bruise. He married my Mom and after they had me, they decided to move to California. He thought he might be in the movies. He was an extra in a couple of films, but nothing big time. Because of his driving experience, he worked as an elite driver for the movie studios the rest of his life. He had lots of stories about the different stars he drove. I never heard him swear except once, when he was teaching me to drive. He was brutally honest, and felt he was doing you a favor if he said what he thought. He loved to tell stories, and his audience would be captivated. He loved to swim, dance, cars & movies. He never smoked or drank, maybe because he was so frugal. He lived to age 86 and said in 1996 he had had a wonderful life, no regrets. I have a lot of Dad stories to share or re-share in this blog, they seem to be the favorites?

These matchbox labels are real treasures. Small pieces of art. I like it when everyday items are made with so much taste and beauty.
Jacki, your tribute to your dad is so touching and full of love. He'd be happy to read it.
Have a good new week.
Thank you, Elenor, I was able to see two of my grandsons this weekend, the third was in Texas with his bride to be. Have a great week.
