Last week I was lucky to share Elenor's photos from Crete, here. I wrote to her, so many of us had enjoyed the photos, and she replied with some artifacts. Elenor said, "We had such a great guide to Knossos and Heraklion, a lady in her 50's, who is a former archeologist and now a certificated guide. She mentioned that the Minoan culture flourished as long as there was no war.  When foreign people came to conquer the island this most stunning culture vanished.
After visiting Knossos we went to the archaeological museum in Heraklion, where you can find the best collection of Minoan art. It goes back to about 3500 BC until about 1100 BC. This was the start (cradle?) of European art and culture.
There is a very interesting article here in English:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minoan_art
I really enjoyed seeing this collection in Heraklion"

Thank You Elenor, for our trip to Crete and Heraklion.

Love the last thought, and it's so impressive to see some whimsey even back so many centuries ago. (I am referring to the plate with the two teardrop people. I was also amazed at the craftsmanship. These were all done by hand. (Maybe we should get rid of our TVs and computers and see what we could accomplish without all the daily distraction.) Thank you Jacki.

Thanks Carrol for your kind comment. I'm happy you like my pics.
I love this museum. It was not my first visit and each time I'm impressed by by the harmony you can feel when you watch theses wonderful pieces.
Jacki, thanks again for your wonderful blog.
