Day 888: What's in a number?

888,  collage digitized

888 is a repdigit ...
a number all of whose digits are equal,
but more than that, a strobogrammatic number,
ones that read the same upside down.
Of course, I knew none of this.

A kind reader mentioned he was looking forward to Day 888.
So, I googled.
And, there is so much more ...
smallest cube, smallest multiple, digit sum,
practical number and more.
There is even symbology and various forms of numerology.
TMI?  I thought so too.

Wishing you and yours a safe & very ...

Day 887: It's all going faster, right?

"Now",  junk mail collage

Surely it's not just me, or is it?
No. Time is definitely going by faster.
It seems to me that someone turned up the pace mid-November?

Time Flies by Duy Huynh

As a child I remember time barely moving.
Especially when there was something special ahead.
I made it my goal to get it to happen sooner.
I don't remember that ever working.

I am working on an end of the year job for a client.
It is a difficult one. And I admit I am "dragging my feet."

66 images. Old, small blurry images to be composed
into a cohesive tale of a road trip long ago.
I do love old photos and there are some gems  ...

... so maybe I am just holiday weary.
But, right now it feels like I am getting ready
to climb a very high mountain, Mt. Everest, or Mauna Kea,
... depending on your point of view.
Wish me luck?

Day 886: Only two thumbs up, but ...

Fact-finder 2, digital collage

Only two thumbs up, but ...
it was just me, and that's all I've got!

Yesterday I "snuck" out to the movies.
I didn't have to sneak, it's just that I did have work to do.
I went to see ...

I had heard it was good, and it was.
I found it more emotional than anything
I have seen in a very long time.

Eddie Redmayne is Stephen Hawkings.
I was drawn in from the start, and I am not that easy.

An excellent cast, in the Cambridge setting.

Felicity Jones, as Jane Wilde Hawking,
shares her role with equal skill.

I noticed in his later years, my Dad's emotions seemed
to be closer to the surface, more easily stirred.
I seems I am my father's daughter.

Film critic, Justin Chang for Variety,  gave a review here.
If you see it, let me know what you think?

Day 885: Great Danes are my kryptonite!

Factfinding, digital collage

This morning WonderWoman posted a ...
Great Dane puppy video on my FB page,
saying "this one's for you."
She know's my weakness,
I love dogs, cats and all animals in general, but ...
Great Danes are my kryptonite!

I have a long time love affair with Great Danes.
They are perfect.
Strong, gentle, wise and loyal.
What more could you want?

My first love, Marcus Aurelius of Dun Roman!
He was a show dog, but we only did one puppy show.
We were teachers, no kids, so he was our family.

And, a protective big brother when WW was born later.
Great Danes live shorter lives, but their lives are spectacular.

Shogun @ 3 months, WonderWoman @ 4 years

Second love, and my best friend ever, was Shogun!

Shogun,2  & Erin,6 in 1979

All puppies are mischievous, right?
Great Danes take it to a new level.
Shogun pulled a seven foot newly planted tree from the ground,
and romped around the yard, bumping into everything
with the protruding ends, laughing the whole time!

I could go on and on, on Great Danes?
If you want more, cute 1 min or less videos here and here.

Day 884: Eleven elves on Christmas Eve ...

another re-cycled Christmas card collage ... from the 2nd life series (almost done).

Let me tell you a little Christmas story.

I know Christmas is past, but there's still a little story to tell.

There was a great Sensei.

A kind and generous man.
And he wondered if there might be ...
people without plans on Christmas Eve?

So he decided to open the hombu dojo,

for whoever would come.
Eleven elves came, and more later ...

Sensei cooked, games were played, food eaten ...

a magical evening was had by all.
Thank you Sensei!

Santa Daruma

TMI about The Daruma doll (達磨 daruma?), also known as a Dharma doll, is a hollow, round, Japanese traditional doll. These dolls, though typically red and depicting a bearded man (Dharma), and though considered an omocha, meaning toy, Daruma has a design that is rich in symbolism and is regarded more as a talisman of good luck to the Japanese. Daruma dolls are seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck, making them a popular gift of encouragement. The doll has also been commercialized by many Buddhist temples to use alongside goal setting. The eyes of Daruma are often blank when sold. The recipient of the doll fills in one eye upon setting the goal, then the other upon fulfilling it. In this way, every time they see the one-eyed Daruma, they recall the goal.

Day 883: The ghost of what?

another re-cycled Christmas card collage ... from the 2nd life series

It's just me,

the ghost of Christmas past ...
ready for a nap.
But, sharing just some of the faces of our big day ...

The morning was spent eating, gifting, playing ...
then the smart ones went to the beach.

Life is good.
Hoping you are enjoying your holidays.
