Austin Kleon

Austin Kleon (@austinkleon) writer/artist living in Austin, Texas. Today artist/friend Bea e-mailed me mentioning his blog and an article Austin wrote about blogging. She thought I might like it. And I did.
And, when re-visiting his blog, I also saw another article,  "Make something for somebody. "A short 3 paragraphs that sums up my belief, when we take time to make anything for someone else, it gets us outside ourselves. And that, I think is a very good thing.

* Being an only child, I was/am self- centered by default. A trait I don't admire in me or anyone, but wear around my neck. It may not show, but I am really trying to reach outside of me. So, one of the ways you might observe me "making stuff for someone"...
whether they want it or not! ;o)

2GN2S ...

This is from 2019 but still worthy of sharing ... Homemade ‘Nikes’ give Filipina athlete an edge.

To some athletes, brands count for everything when it comes to performance. Filipina schoolgirl Rhea Bullos bagged three gold medals at an athletics competition this week without wearing shoes, opting instead to wrap her feet in tape and draw an iconic Nike “swoosh” logo on them.

Bullos, 11, was one of several on her team of 12 athletes who made their own footwear because they had only two pairs of running shoes between them at the competition in the central province of Iloilo.
“Winning three medals in a competition like that is difficult, but she did it,” Valenzuela said by telephone from Iloilo.

“It's every athlete’s dream to wear spike shoes,” Valenzuela added. “Not necessarily Nike, as long as they have decent shoes to be able to compete.” SM City buys new shoes for Rhea Bullos, a Balasan runner who has been trending on social media after her picture wearing makeshift 'Nike' shoes went viral.Rhea was taken to the SM Store in SM City where she was bought a new pair of shoes, socks and a sports bag.
With Rhea is SM City Assistant Branch Manager Yvonne Delgado
