You may not have heard of it,
but it is a worthy tradition, nonetheless.
The day after Thanksgiving, aka *Black Friday ...
has a different spin for our family.

(*named for merchants selling enough to pull them out of the negative red ink to the
positive black ink in sales. I am explaining this for artist/friend Heidi in Austria,
so she doesn't have to google.)

Ever since the 3 Grandhunks were old enough to tag along
with their Dad, Superman, to the LA Car Show at the
Convention Center, they did.
But his year there was no car show so they had a guy day.

Their Mom, WonderWoman & I upheld the little known tradition
of shopping at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

We have always gone early, no crowds, lines or trampling people.
Just some sales in a beautiful uncrowded setting.
We both like the same stores & WW gets me to walk a lot.

But this year a lot of like-minded people showed up!
And we had to share our favorite store with a crowd!

This meant standing in line just to try on our potential sales.
That done, we stood in the check out line for 30 minutes before giving up with an estimated 30 minute wait till actual check out!

This didn't dampen our spirit, it was a glorious day and
we shopped in many stores. WW found some great buys.
I usually found a cushy chair & people watched ...

or shot some bizarre photo.
Lunch at R&D kitchen was perfect.
I could have photographed the food, but ... I ate it instead.

A great day with my super hero.
We are already brainstorming about next year ...
and maybe a new location?
Thanks WonderWoman!

A smile for Saturday ...
