Day 1253: Where'd they go?

earthquake 4.4, collage,acrylic & digital

Since posting from Grandma duty these six days ...

you might be wondering, where did they go?
Superman, WonderWoman & Grandhunk #2 ...

took off last Sunday for Mesa, AZ and ...
the huge varsity high school basketball tournament.
Grandhunks 1 & 3 and Granddogs 1, 2 & 3 ....
stayed home with me.

...

GG#2, 16 year old junior is a member of
Orange Lutheran High School varsity basketball team.

They traveled in a lux bus, support staff in the smaller OLU bus,

the boys and girls team drove to AZ.

The Texas team bus?

A multiple day event included the team
attending a U of A basketball game.

Plus, playing multiple games each day.

They'll be home in 2016!

Day 1252: Deja Vu but bigger!

"Goal", photo, collage & digital

Way back in December 2012,
I accompanied GH#3, Zack, to the driving range,
and mentioned it in an early Day 158 blog,  here.

December 30, 2012

A funny kid like his Mom, who also likes to hit things!

So now, on day three of Grandma duty ...
we are have had two trips to the driving range.

So far.

Now 15, a 6'2" high school freshman with tons of power ...

he loves this ...

and I love watching him love it.

Not a fancy place.
The grass is thirsty due to our water shortage.

But it's heaven to this kid.

And when you think about it, shooting for a goal ...
that could come in handy?

So you'll know where to find us!
Thanks so much for visiting.

A smile for Wednesday ...

Day 1251: More Chloe, by request!

same date, photo & junk mail digital collage

When mentioning that I would be
on Grandma duty the rest of 2015,

 friend/artist Marie said ... "I hope you ...
have great opportunities for photos of Chloe
(the big sweet dog).  I love your photos of her.
Her cute personality show through in your photos."

And so, wanting to please Marie,
and needing a blog for Day 1251, here's Chloe!

photos by WonderWoman

Chloe is Granddog #3,
a 2-1/2 year old American Bull Dog Diva.
She is proud of her love handles (pleural)
and uses the treadmill for naps.

The dogs are allowed on the couch only in the game room.
So this is my view, being the third lump on this couch.

I think her caption might read, "enough!"

Granddog #2, Laker, caption might read ...
"Chloe, Chloe, Chloe ..."

A smile for Tuesday ...

(Superman, WonderWoman and Grandhunk #2 are in Mesa, AZ)

Day 1250: Short and sweet from Grandma TLC!

Promo, acrylic & junk mail collage card

Recently, on a chilly California morning ...

at Mochitsuki, mentioned here,

I noticed these leaves and thought ...

they might make a blog sometime.

Was I right?

I am on Grandma TLC duty for the rest of 2015 ...

so I'll do the best I can.
Thanks for stopping by.

A smile for Monday ...

Day 1249: Happy Boxing Day!

sport of kings, photo, telephone book, digital collage

I had forgot all about boxing day

Boxing Day is a holiday traditionally celebrated
the day following Christmas,
when servants and tradesmen would receive gifts,
known as a "Christmas box",
from their masters, employers or customers.

But in reading Darlene's blog this morning, here, I was reminded.
I lived in Australia for four years and boxing day was a big event.

This may be a TMI alert, but that never seems to stop me.
There are a couple of you who asked about Australia,
so I guess today is that day.

As you know, or don't know (or care?) ...
I was in boarding school age 8 - 11, see here.
At age 11, my Mother married Des.
A rather famous Australian race horse trainer.

He trained racehorses & steeplechase jumpers ...
that raced around the world.
Leaving Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in Pasadena, CA
We moved to Melbourne, and made new friends.
I was enrolled at Kilbreda College

a Brigidine Catholic Secondary School for Girls

can you find me?

in Mentone, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
A 30 minute train ride, to and from each day.

There were changes.
I learned to jump horses & ride dressage,
tennis and golf lessons were required.
And I loved Scottish dancing and ballet.
I thought I was "Belle of the Ballet", but, I wasn't.

Four years of my life ...
with so much "new" to learn and enjoy.
 1 horse, 1 retired racehorse, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 cockatoo & 1 magpie!
Very different from boarding school.
Today, Boxing Day is their public holiday,
and I am remembering that time with a smile.
