Day 1008: Again, just under the wire.

old drawing plus collage = postcard

Where did this month go?
Seems that's my question at the end of every month.
My 8" square artwork (with Turkish fold) is due to Irene.
We can do whatever we want.
I decided to do a collage form of a journal drawing.

journal sketch, ink brush

So a light sketch on the 8" square, already folded.

Adding torn paper ... deciding on the colors as I go.

A little acrylic just on the face, almost done.

Some red & black china marker & finished.

inside

Making sure it still folds.

outside

I used a Japanese print as my base paper,

which folds flat for mailing ...

in a matching envelope. My first attempt.
The other artists are light years ahead of me.
They do artwork on handmade envelopes!
I'm learning & am lucky they let me play at all.
Makes going to the mailbox fun!

Day 1007: Maybe an alias ... the artful dodger?

collage & an old drawing postcard

I am thinking about the tasks I should be doing today ...
and then the postcards that I want to do.
This does seem to be my modus operandi ...
anybody out there do this?
I can always think of something better to do.
Maybe it's child-me battling the pretty much grown-up-me?
It's 9:32 AM as I type this and wonder ...
  who will win today?

Place your bets ladies and gentlemen!

Day 1006: Home all day!

collage and old drawing postcard

I have been out and about a lot lately.
Today I had planned to go to day class,
but started on my postcards early in the day ...

and everything just seemed to be rolling along,
so I decided to skip class and work through.
About 30 done, 46 to go.
Not work really, fun!

Day 1005: How to spend a perfect Sunday?

collage & old drawing postcard

I am on a roll!
Saturday was a perfect day ...

and Sunday was perfect too.

Valerie drive us, on our way to ...

Perched on top of a hill with an amazing view of the Pacific,

San Pedro, the Port of Los Angeles,

and Catalina Island ...

Angels Gate Park is a gem to be enjoyed, and we did.

Angels Gate Cultural Center is a group of re-purposed barracks,
made into various sized artist studios.

Painting, photography, ceramics, printmaking and more.

and in one of the buildings ...

the amazing building-sized set up of n-gauge railways
set up by the Angles Gate High Railers &

We worked so hard, we got hungry.
I don't know why I always forget to shoot the food?
Val had the veggie melt & I had the spicy pork melt.
It was delicious and magically disappeared.

Many different groups performed throughout the event.

We turned right instead of left, going to the Korean Friendship Bell.

A wonderful spot, kite flying, & families enjoying the day.

Up close, the detail is incredible.

And the view from the bell ...

then time to start for Orange County,
follow that Ferrari!

Easier Sunday traffic.

Another perfect day.
