Tonight we met at a restaurant to honor Luke.
Luke, 14, was to receive his red name belt,
from legend & chief instructor, Shihan Fumio Demura.
In our style of Shito-Ryu, Genbu-Kai Karate
a red name belt is the highest achievement for juniors.
It is the junior equivalent of black belt.
At age 15, a junior may start over towards adult ranks.
Luke started as our student at Costa Mesa dojo in 2005.
Nine years later, reaching the third level, name red belt.
Family, Instructors, fellow students and friends ...
gathered to honor this fine young man.
With health drinks and ...
even paparazzi ...
we celebrated!
